- Eritrea, a country gained its independence from Ethiopian colonialism in 1991 after a 30-year war.

The Capital City

- Asmara: the capital city, considered one of the largest and most important cities. It is located at an altitude of about 7,628 feet, or 2,325 meters above sea level. The weather is mild throughout the year with temperature ranges between 16 to 29 degrees Celsius. The rainy seasons run from June to September and the dry seasons run from December to February.

-Asmara was designated in the UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2017 due to its architecture, rationalist art, residential and commercial buildings, as well as churches, mosques, synagogues, cinemas and hotels, which it acquired during the Italian colonial period.


Geographical information:

Location: Eritrea is located in the northeast of Africa (the Horn of Africa). It has an area of about 117,600 km2. It is bordered to the west by Sudan, to the south by Ethiopia, and to the southeast by Djibouti. It has a coastal beach on the Red Sea with a length of more than 1000 km2. And it has many islands, the most important of which is the Dahlak archipelago.

Climate: tends to be cold in the highlands and hot in the lowlands, with high humidity on the sea coasts. The climate in the highlands changes during the day from sunny to cloudy to rainy. It has two rainy seasons, in autumn in most parts of the country and in winter on the coasts.

Economy and Investment: Its economy depends on agriculture, livestock, fisheries and mining. Most of its investments are concentrated in the mining and fisheries sectors. Mining is one of its most important resources, such as gold, copper, potassium and zinc.

Culture and Heritage: The culture and heritage of the State of Eritrea differ according to its different nationalities and customs. It has nine nationalities representing the community, each with its own language spoken.

    The official languages of the country are Tigrigna, Arabic and English.

People: The population of Eritrea is about 6 million people, Characterized by peace, hospitality and respect for elderly, women and children.

Eritrean women enjoy an active role in society and share all tasks with men.

Eritrean people embrace two religions, Christianity and Islam.

Politics: The system in the State of Eritrea is a presidential system under the leadership of H.H President/ Isaias Afwerki, who has been at the head of the government since independence in 1991.
